Last weekend saw the opening round of the 2018 FIA Formula 2 Championship, at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain.
For this year, the Formula 1 feeder-series makes use of the new Mecachrome Motorsport V634 Turbo engine, installed in the Dallara F2 2018 chassis.
Despite it being the first race meeting for the new package, there were no engine issues for any of the 20 runners over the course of the weekend.
Mecachrome Motorsport Director, Bruno Engelric, said: “Throughout practice, qualifying and both races, we suffered no issues with any of the 20 V634 Turbos.
“We learned a lot from both the Paul Ricard test in early March, and the Sakhir test more recently, so to have all the engines running perfectly for the opening race of the season is a good step forwards.”
Congratulations to race winners Lando Norris and Artem Markelov, we are looking forwards to the next round in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 27-29 April.
